WINDGATE STABLES KINGSMAN'S FOX HUNT 2015
The Kingsman's Fox Hunt is a hunter pace competition held by Windgate-Stables and qannekke during the month of March.
Horses will be judged on time (total time taken to complete the hunt), as well as rideability (the ease of riding the horse), manners (good behavior on the hunt), and position under saddle (how the horse moves and its position over jumps, how the horse tackles obstacles). Additional points will be rewarded to those who manage to catch the fox at the end of the hunt.

CLASS INFORMATION
  • Each class will be marked individually, and ribbons will be awarded for each class. However, Champion and Reserve Champion are only given to the best performing horses overall. Judge's choice will be awarded to a horse which has provided an outstanding entry.
  • The same horse cannot enter a class more than once. Riders may ride multiple horses from the same stable.
  • All entries will be effort based judging.
  • Each entry is awarded up to 30 points for effort.
  • Each entry is also awarded up to 27 points in entry requirements.
  • The more you put into your entry, the more effort points you will receive.
  • The show will run even without being filled. If you are the only person in a class, congratulations - you win!

  • Photo Background = 0pts; No Background = 0pts; Full Background = 2pts.

  • Incorrect weather and time of day = 0pts; Correct weather and time of day = 1pt.

HUNT RULES AND ETIQUETTE
  • Horse's tails must be tied up completely with no loose hairs, lest the tail be caught in an obstacle. It is encouraged to braid manes however it is not required.
  • Two falls of the rider or horse = Disqualification; Injury of the rider or horse = Disqualification.
  • Horse must wear either a fitted white saddle pad, a sheepskin half pad with no underpad, or no saddle pad. Full saddle pads are not permissible.
  • Tack must be appropriate english tack, preferably brown or chestnut colored saddle and bridle, all purpose or close contact saddles allowed.
  • Ladies may ride in a sidesaddle if so desired, preferably in brown, chestnut, or black.
  • Harsh bits permitted with proper use, hackamores not permitted. Bitless bridles permitted only in the case of medical need (ie. horse has a mouth deformity and cannot be ridden in a bit).
  • Dragon tack or other decorative tack is not permitted, as fancy tack may get caught in obstacles and cause injury to horse or rider. Leg protection (polo wraps, boots, and other tack that covers the leg) is not permitted as it may get caught or cause raw rubs during the ride.
  • Riders must wear helmets at all times.
  • Riders must wear a riding jacket or hunting coat in Red, Tweed, Black, or Navy. Field boots with tan or beige britches are encouraged. If ladies are riding sidesaddle, traditional sidesaddle attire is permitted.

WINDGATE STABLES KINGSMAN'S FOX HUNT - INFORMATION AND SETTING

GENERAL INFORMATION
  • Horses and riders are encouraged to follow the hounds directly in the first field, however are not required and may participate in the second field (no hounds). However, horses following the hounds will receive additional points towards their total score.
  • Stories are not required, but will give additional effort points.
  • The more riders you have in your team, the more effort points you will gain.
  • Draft and light horse breeds are permitted to participate, but may have more difficulty while on the hunt.
  • Horses are encouraged to have a hunter clip, however it is not required.
  • There is a way around every jump, so you need not jump any particularly terrifying obstacle.
  • You are not required to draw your horse jumping an obstacle, however it is highly encouraged to draw your horse approaching, jumping, or departing an obstacle (and will earn you additional points). If you are competing in the team hunt, not all team members are required to jump the obstacle, or jump it at the same time!

SETTING
  • The hunt will take place in rural Ireland (outside of Windgate's native country of Scotland). The hunt will not pass through any towns or near any buildings, however there will be dirt roads and paths occasionally.
  • All obstacles are natural obstacles - hedges, ditches, fallen trees, stone walls, and wooden fences are a few of the obstacles that you will see. You will not see any kind of man made or stadium jumps, no jumps have been constructed for this event! You can watch this video for inspiration!
  • You are allowed to choose the time of your hunt between two days - Day One will be dark and cloudy with a light drizzle throughout the day, and the ground will be soft but not completely muddy. Day Two will be light and partly cloudy, however the ground will be muddy and slippery.
  • Team hunts will start at 7:30 AM each day, and will run every two hours until the last hunt starts at 12:30 PM.
  • Individual hunts will run at 9:00 AM and 1:00 PM each day - the individuals will ride together in one of the four groups (notice that you do not have to draw any horses and riders other than your one horse and rider in an individual hunt!).
  • No hunts will take place during or after sunset - the hunt will be called in early if it begins to get dark.
