WINDGATE STABLES INTERNATIONAL HUNTER CLASSIC 2015
The International Hunter Classic is a Hunter Jumper show hosted by Windgate-Stables, HARPG-HJA and qannekke, running three divisions. Horses are to be judged on athleticism, turnout, and how well they present the "perfect ride" - an easy to ride, but still achieving, horse.

SPONSORS
:iconwindgate-stables: :iconharpg-hja:

CLASS INFORMATION
  • Each class will be marked individually, and ribbons will be awarded for each class. However, Champion and Reserve Champion are only given to the best performing horses overall. Judge's choice will be awarded to a horse which has provided an outstanding entry.
  • Horse and rider may qualify for HARPG-HJA points - please see the group on how to register and start accumulating points! Please notice that both classes in a division must be entered to count for points.
  • The same horse cannot enter a class more than once. Riders may ride multiple horses from the same stable.
  • Horse breeds only - no big cats or other non-horse breeds are permitted.
  • Horses may have physical mutations, however cannot aid in competition - ie. if your horse happens to be a pegasus, you cannot simply say "well we flew around the course and didn't knock anything so we win!".
  • All entries will be effort based judging.
  • Each entry is awarded up to 20 points for effort.
  • Each entry is also awarded up to 12 points in entry requirements.
  • The more you put into your entry, the more effort points you will receive.
  • The show will run even without being filled. If you are the only person in a class, congratulations - you win!

WINDGATE STABLES INTERNATIONAL HUNTER CLASSIC - INFORMATION AND SETTING

CLASS DESCRIPTIONS
Under Saddle:
  • The under saddle class is flat-only, and judges the horse's movement, gaits, and transitions.
  • The class should be ridden on a long rein, with the horse responding to light contact.
  • The ideal hunter under saddle could be ridden by anyone - whether they are an advanced rider, or a three year old child!
  • The only tack permitted in the under saddle class is your saddle, white fitted saddle pad (alternately: white half pad or no saddle pad), girth, and bridle. No martingales or crops are permitted.

Over Fences:
  • The over fences class is ridden over a course of eight to twelve conservative fences of or below a predetermined height, and judges the horse's movement and athletic ability over fences.
  • The horse should ride each line in a certain number of strides, without taking longspots or chipping in to fences. Horses should land their leads or complete flying lead changes.
  • Tack regulations are the same as in the under saddle class, however standing martingales and crops are permitted.

DIVISION DESCRIPTIONS

  • Horses and ponies may both enter.

  • Riders are welcome to use Windgate's other outdoor rings for warmup.
  • Hunter Derby and Baby Greens will start at 9:00 AM, and Low/High Open Hunter will start at 1:30 PM after the Baby Greens have run. The day starts off cool, but quickly turns hot later in the day. It is sunny and warm, and the ground is soft due to rain during the week.
