Ben was back at Windgate, this time preparing Otachi for the Australian Olympics in a few month's time. Ben's few day trip from Falkirk to Salzburg had ended up lasting over a week, and he had managed to bring the Windgate's new horse back to the barn. He had not brought back the golden colt he had been picking out his pockets for at the sale, as the final purchase of the horse had yet to go through. However, the current owner had brought the horse back to Ghent, in Belgium, where the breeder currently lived (and had brought the horse from for the sale). When Ben did go to pick up his new stallion, it would only be a few days' trip, rather than the six days he had spent driving for the Salzburg sale.
Ben had since been staying at one of Windgate's guest cottages, rather than go back and forth between his and Otachi's early morning treks. After arriving back to the small, grey-shingled cottage after a rather muddy incident with Otachi, Ben noticed an envelope sitting at the kitchen table (most likely put there by someone from the main house, they all knew where he was staying now). Turning the slightly damp envelope in his hands, Ben noticed that the address it was sent from was, in fact, in Ghent.
Ripping eagerly into the envelope, he was careful to slow his hands as he realized what was in the envelope - a snapshot of his new colt, standing on the beach.

Born out of a desire to draw literally anything, and some intense homesickness. I currently live in Ontario, but I've never in my life been landlocked before - even in Chicago, we still had Lake Michigan (which to me seemed like an ocean, and really, it's close enough). I was born in Mobile, Alabama, and have a house in Cape Cod. This background is actually of a beach on Cape Cod, I believe this one is only about 20 minutes from my house.
I miss the sea. I never want to live away from it again, honestly, even if the salt in the air does make my jeans smell like seaweed (seriously, what the hell do you make your clothes out of, bluenotes?).
