A bid for a breeding spot to the beautiful Moulin Rouge, owned by *Aomori. I have wanted a Moulin for a very long time, something about them just speaks to me in some way. There aren't really any words.
Please enjoy, *Aomori She is shown in full Arabian tack, complete with all tassels, gold patterning, and rope bridle. I'm not entirely sure where this took place, but I think the background looks how it was supposed to come out
Time Taken: Approximately 20 hours, over the course of about 5 days. Layers: Unknown, estimated at 150+. References Used:[link] Method: All lineart was drawn on standard printer paper with HB pencil. All parts drawn separately, every tree, rock, piece of grass, etc. Scanned in, and pasted one by one onto the canvas, colors were filled and blocked in, and then shaded. Gaussian blur was added in GIMP, finished off with rough edged border in SAI. Notes: Holy fuck. I have seen the abyss, it feels a lot like I'm about to have a panic attack. Just as soon as I was about to save it in GIMP, I just had to add watercolor in SAI. I saved in GIMP, and opened in SAI - my entire image was just a black and blue glitched rectangle. There was a compression error 253 while saving, which resulted in my image glitching. I panicked for about fifteen minutes, then downloaded some PSD recovery software and managed to get my merged layers image back - I couldn't get individual layers, so no changing anything, but I'm so happy I managed to get it! I also did it in a slightly more comic book style, and I'm very happy with it. It has just the style I wanted, I honestly couldn't be much happier with this piece!
It looks exactly like something out of an old, dusty tome of fairy tales. Magical, ethereal, delicate, detailed, rich and parchment-textured. It's truly a piece of art and I am blown away by its beauty.
I have to say, and this is a personal reflection also, Nordanners really do seem to bring out the best in an artist. That's not to say there's no foul-play - quite the contrary, on a daily basis I see art that makes me cringe (scans of drawings on lined paper, blurry photographs of I'm not sure what) and then there are pieces like this. Pieces that set a new high standard, not only for what can be made, but what the individual can do, how far we can push ourselves, because it speaks to something deep in our hearts. In short, Nordanners can bring out the best and the worst in people, but this, right here, right now, this is a new high in 'best'.
Wow, thank you very much for the kind words ; u ; And I agree, that Nordanners can bring out the best in people! If it weren't for Nordanners, I feel like I wouldn't be the artist I am today - I am so much improved, Nordanners pushed me to develop a new style and work harder on my work - as well as taught me some good work ethics. If you work hard enough, and practice, and put in the time and effort, you can be a better artist than you ever imagined. I have seen people go from quick sketches to absolutely stunning pieces because of this breed and because of the HARPG community, and it's always inspiring
Thank you very much, both for the compliments and for the utterly inspiring message
Exactly that <3 The pieces I'm most proud of, and have worked hardest on are of Nordanners - not even my own! There's something magical about them <3 Even though Dane's gone onto other things, a part of me will remain ever grateful to her for creating the Nordanners.
You're most welcome hun <3 I find your artwork inspirational So, the thanks are from me to you for sharing your craft with us (me <3)
